High-Protein Snacks for Work: What to Keep at Your Desk

Protein bars and a protein shake on a tidy office desk

The best work snack is the one still edible at 4pm after a morning in a bag.

Desk drawer, no fridge

Bars are the obvious answer. Barebells Cookies and Cream (20g protein, 200 calories) and Grenade Carb Killa (21g, 222) keep well and eat cleanly. Biltong and jerky are shelf-stable too, though the smell travels in an open-plan office.

If you have a fridge

Greek yogurt or skyr is cheaper per gram of protein than almost anything else, and a Premier Protein or Fairlife shake gives 26g to 30g of protein cold and ready to drink.

Meetings and quiet offices

Crisps and nuts are noisy. Yogurt, shakes and soft bars are not. It sounds trivial; it decides what you actually eat.

Building a stock

Keep two or three shelf-stable options in the drawer and restock monthly. Having something decent on hand is what stops the 3pm biscuit run, far more than any single snack choice.
